Welcome to the Center for Ecological-Noosphere Studies (CENS) of the National Academy of Sciences RA!
Founded in 1989 through the merging of several core laboratories, CENS has grown into a comprehensive institution implementing a wide spectrum of fundamental and applied investigations in ecology, environmental conservation and food safety.
Interdisciplinary studies CENS has been dealing with include the assessment of ecological status of territories, development of scientific and methodological fundamentals of risk analysis, optimization of natural resource management processes, solution of problems in the area of human ecology.
The CENS units have state-of-the-art technical equipment beginning from off-road vehicles up to high-precision devices, owing to which investigations acquire a broad thematic and geographical range.
Investigations are funded through diverse sources, 50% of them making a target state budget-based funding and the rest – agreements, grants, orders and so on.
The CENS takes an active part in international scientific collaboration in the frame of diverse grant- supported programs: FP-6,7; NATO,CRDF, UNESCO, OSCE and so on.
In addition to its research activities, the CENS implements educational and training programs. The CENS is a PhD students instruction locus and homes the MS Students Instruction Chair to the International Center for Science and Education NAS on specialty “Nature conservation and the use of natural resources” and the UNSECO Chair “Education for Sustainable Development”.
The CENS staff comprises highly skilled experts, enthusiastic, openhearted and sociable as well.
